Ronald Hobbs, a beloved member of the Scottsburg community, passed away on December 31, 2025, at Norton County Hospital in Jeffersonville, Indiana, at the age of 74. Born on August 22, 1951, in Scottsburg, Ronald was a spirited individual whose life was marked by humor, generosity, and a genuine love for those around him. A proud 1969 graduate of Seymour High School, he was well-known for his talkative nature and caring disposition.
Ronald's interests in life were as vibrant as his personality. He had an adventurous spirit, enjoying the thrill of racing monster trucks and the freedom of the open road. His love for larger-than-life experiences was evident when he proudly served as an escort, leading oversized loads, navigating the highways as if they belonged to him. His passion for cars extended beyond just driving; he found joy in working on them, relishing each mechanical challenge. He also had a soft spot for the playful antics of Garfield the cat, adding a touch of whimsy to his character.
At home, Ronald was surrounded by love—especially from his dogs, Marley, Socks, and Ebbie, who were cherished companions and reflected his warm heart. A man of faith, he lived as a committed Christian, instilling values of kindness and compassion in those fortunate enough to know him.
Ronald is survived by his beloved wife of 54 years, Mary Kollmeyer Hobbs, and his daughters, Jennifer Shaver of Seymour, Indiana, and Marion Potter (Darryl) of Lawrenceburg, Indiana. He was a proud grandfather to ten grandchildren and delighted in the company of several great-grandchildren. He also leaves behind his sister, Charlene Banks of North Vernon, Indiana. Ronald was preceded in death by his parents, Terrance and Anna Hobbs, his son, Ronald Leland Hobbs, and his daughter, Sharon.
His family will receive friends at Christensen - Hoagland Family Funeral Home located at 80 N 1st Street, Scottsburg, Indiana.
