Seymour

Ruby Mae Cooper Niederbaumer, age 80, born on January 25, 1946, in Beattyville, Kentucky, passed away peacefully on May 14, 2026, at her residence, surrounded by her beloved family. Her life was a vivid tapestry woven with love, friendship, and an unyielding spirit that touched everyone fortunate enough to know her.

Ruby’s journey was marked by steadfast dedication and heartfelt connections. For more than 26 years, she was a cherished member of the Excello Shirt Factory family, where her warmth and hard work left an indelible mark on colleagues and friends alike. Later, she embraced the role of meat clerk at Seymour JayC for over 15 years, a time during which she formed many lasting friendships—each a testament to the fierce loyalty and deep affection she offered in return.

Known for her outgoing presence and candid voice, Ruby spoke her mind with a fearless honesty. She loved deeply and fiercely, a friend unwavering in her support and a beacon of love to all who crossed her path. Her faith was her cornerstone; as a devoted Christian, she found solace and strength in reading her Bible, drawing guidance and comfort throughout her life.

Ruby was one of nine children, a member of a large and loving family that shaped much of who she was. Although four brothers, Claude, Clayton, Boyd Jr., and Stoney Lee Cooper, and two sisters, Jean Campbell and Eunice Prather, as well as her father Boyd Cooper Sr. and her mother Lena Brandenburg Cooper-Elkins preceded her in death, the bonds she shared with those still with us remained a source of great joy. She is survived by her daughters, Donnett Roth and her husband Christopher of Mooresville, Indiana, and Nadine Bowman and her husband Harold Jr. of Seymour, Indiana; her sisters Sally Campbell and Versie Goines, both of Austin, Indiana; five grandchildren—Jessica Roth, Brandon Bowman, Dakota Bowman, Coral Bowman, and Canyon Bowman—and five great-grandchildren, Nadiya, James, Asta, Meliodas, and Everett. Ruby’s family was her world, and their presence at her side in her final moments was a testament to the deep and enduring love that defined her life. She is also survived by numerous nieces, nephew and friends.

Outside of work and family, Ruby’s passions brought her immense happiness and adventure. She loved camping and traveling, embracing the beauty of the world with an open heart and adventurous spirit. For several years, she led the 4H club, inspiring young minds and nurturing their potential. Her soul danced to the rhythms of Country and Bluegrass music, sounds that echoed the simplicity and depth of her own life’s story.

The family will receive friends at the Christensen Family Funeral Home in Seymour, Indiana, on Thursday May 21, 2026, from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m., followed by a funeral service at 1:00 PM with Pastor Ralph Blomenburg officiating. She will be laid to rest at Riverview Cemetery immediately following.

Ruby Niederbaumer’s legacy is one of love, courage, joy, and faith. She lived boldly, loved fiercely, and leaves behind a world made richer by her spirit. Those who knew her carry forward her story—a story defined not only by the years she lived but by the lives she touched and the love she inspired.
