Samuel Amos Deppa

Aug 12, 1973 — Sep 14, 2026

Samuel Amos Deppa, 53, passed away unexpectedly on Monday, September 14, 2026 in Seymour, Indiana. He was born August 12, 1973 to Jerry and Joan Deppa while living at Zimmerman, MN. They later moved to Elk River, Bemidji and then Lake George, MN, where he was joined with his brother, James and then sister, Sarah. When they moved to Hale, Michigan, their brother, John joined the family. The family then moved back to Minnesota, then Illinois & Massachusetts, but always seemed to call Minnesota home, where Sam graduated from Newfolden High School in 1992 while living in Viking, MN. Shortly after, Sam joined the Coast Guard and was stationed in Hawaii.

When he was discharged, he went to a truck driving school in Wisconsin, and after finishing his training went to work for Transport America. There he met his wife, Deb Kennicott and they were married April 3, 2003, and moved to Ottawa, Kansas with her three sons, Mike, Matt and Anthony. He continued driving truck, and after they were separated, he took on his dog traveling companions, Callie, Ravyn and recently a husky named, Cerberus, which he considered part of his family. Sam’s truck became his home and he drove all over the country with various companies, through every state but Hawaii and Alaska, in all kinds of weather. He enjoyed trucking and met many, interesting people, learned a lot about the mechanics of his trucks and places he had been. He loved his dogs and they were good company, but he also loved spending time with family and friends whenever possible. He will be missed by all who knew him!

He is survived by his parents, Jerry and Joan Deppa (Sartell, MN); his brother James (Beth) Deppa, New River, AZ; sister, Sarah Deppa, Sartell, MN and brother John Deppa, Duluth, MN, and sister-in-law, Kayla Deppa, Grand Rapids, MN. His ex-wife, Deb (CA), his stepsons, Mike, Matt and Anthony, (Ottawa, Kansas) and nephews Zach, Dan, Micah, Dante, Landan and one niece, Faith. He also had four grand-nieces and one grand-nephew.

Daniel and Betsy Christensen have been entrusted with the arrangements.
