Shirley Day

Apr 5, 1950 — Jun 10, 2026

Lexington

Shirley Bell Morrison Day, a cherished member of the Scottsburg community and a devoted matriarch, passed away peacefully on June 10, 2026, at her residence. Born on April 5, 1950, in Salem, Indiana, Shirley was a loving soul whose kindness and warmth touched the lives of all who knew her.

For over three decades, Shirley was an active and committed member of Kimberlin Creek Baptist Church, where she nurtured her faith and built lasting relationships. Her beloved church family will remember her for her sweet and patient nature, as well as her infectious love of life. Shirley’s personality was a beautiful blend of lovable kindness and lively sociability; she was truly a people person who delighted in spending time with family and friends.

Her love for life was evident in many ways. She had a green thumb and took immense joy in tending to her flowers, nurturing each bloom with care. Shirley was also an animal lover and held family close to her heart above all else. She was known for her enthusiasm for good Southern cooking, with her green jello salad earning particular acclaim among those fortunate enough to sample it. She was very involved with her kids and grandchildren and Scott County 4H.

Shirley’s life was centered around the love she had for her children and grandchildren. She is survived by her son, Kenneth "Kenny" Sullivan Jr. and his wife Pam of Lexington, Indiana; as well as her brothers, Ernie Morrison and his wife Joann, and Mike Morrison, both also of Lexington. Shirley’s family includes four grandchildren—Doug Sullivan, Kyrsti Byers, Nichole Troncin, and April Mossey—as well as twelve great-grandchildren and one great-great-granddaughter, all of whom brought her immeasurable joy.

Although Shirley is no longer with us, she was preceded in death by her father, James Morrison; her mother, Winona Trueblood Morrison; the father of her children and the love of her life, Kenneth O. Sullivan Sr.; her daughter Kimberly Dawn Sullivan; and her sister Diana Marshall.

Surrounded by her beloved family, Shirley’s peaceful passing marks the close of a life lovingly lived. Her memory will forever remain in the hearts of those who were blessed to know her gentle spirit and generous heart.

Visitation to honor Shirley Bell Morrison Day will be held on June 16, 2026, from 11:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. at Kimberlin Creek Baptist Church, located at 4766 SR-356, Scottsburg, Indiana. A funeral service will immediately follow at 3:00 p.m. at the same location. She will be laid to rest at the church cemetery.

As we gather to celebrate Shirley’s life, we remember a wonderful woman whose legacy of love, kindness, and joy will endure through the generations she cherished so dearly. Her presence enriched the lives of many, and she will be deeply missed yet forever remembered with reverence and affection.

Family requests that memorials be directed to the Scott County 4H.
