Terry Lee Cooksey, born June 15, 1963, in Sarpy, Nebraska, passed away on April 2, 2026, at his residence, surrounded by the loving presence of his family. A man of faith and unwavering loyalty, Terry’s life was a testament to the quiet strength and kindness that defines a truly good soul.
Terry devoted his career to the lumber industry, where his dedication and dependability were nothing short of exemplary. He was known to those who worked alongside him as an extremely loyal employee, a man whose work ethic was as steady and enduring as the forests from which he helped provide. Beyond his professional pursuits, Terry was a Christian by faith, a guiding principle that illuminated his path through life.
More than his work, Terry was a man of warmth and laughter—a really good man with a good sense of humor who could light up a room with his gentle spirit. He loved his wife dearly, sharing 24 years of marriage with Linda Norton Cooksey of Seymour, Indiana, a partnership rooted in mutual love and respect that stood as a beacon through all seasons.
Terry’s passions extended into the quieter joys of life. He cherished his animals—his loyal husky and two beloved cats—companions who shared his days and comforted him with their faithful presence. A lover of literature, he delighted particularly in the tales of Louis L’Amour, traveling to far reaches of imagination through the pages of his books. A master in the kitchen, Terry was famed for crafting the best salami grilled cheese sandwiches, a simple pleasure that brought joy to those fortunate enough to share a meal with him.
He is survived by a devoted family who carry forward the legacy of his kindness and strength: his wife, Linda; his son, Terry Cooksey of Louisiana; daughters Jessica, Ashley, and Amber Cooksey of North Dakota, and Ambien Cooksey of New Mexico; his brother Tim Cooksey of Louisiana; and sisters Theresa Brown of Louisiana and Bonnie Cooksey of Pennsylvania. He was also the cherished grandfather of seven grandchildren who will remember him in their hearts. Terry was predeceased by his father, Arnold Cooksey, whose memory lives on through him and his family.
A graveside service held at Hutton Memorial Cemetery in Zionsville, Indiana, on April 6, 2026, at 3:00 PM., located at 9675 E County Road 300. There, beneath the wide Indiana sky, family and friends gathered to honor a man who lived well, loved deeply, and left the world better for his presence.
Terry Lee Cooksey’s life was a rich tapestry woven with threads of faith, humor, love, and resilience. His memory will linger in the stories told, the meals shared, and the quiet moments of reflection beside a loyal animal’s gentle gaze. In the hearts of all who knew him, he remains—a steadfast beacon of goodness and enduring love.
