Tony Lee Mellencamp

Tony Lee Mellencamp, age 64, a lifelong resident of Seymour, Indiana, passed away on Friday, February 9, 2024 at Seymour Crossing. He was born on July 25, 1959 to the late Harlan Mellencamp and the late Elizabeth (Hitch) Mellencamp. He was a 1978 graduate of Seymour High School and a member of Peace Lutheran Church. Tony never knew a stranger and would talk to anyone that he came in contact with, as he simply loved people. He was a loving man that spoke his mind and was a jokester. Tony enjoyed farming, working in his yard, and gardening. He loved spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren as family was his life.

He is survived by one son, Adam Mellencamp and his wife Lauren of Sheridan, Indiana, two daughters, Amberly Brewer and her husband Christopher of Seymour, Indiana and Amy Hehman and her husband Ryan of Vallonia, Indiana. Two brothers, Alan Lange and his wife Arlene of Seymour, Indiana and Jerry Mellencamp and his wife Myra of Seymour, Indiana. One sister, Sherry Stumler of Seymour, Indiana. 

Eleven grandchildren, Halle, Parker, Melanie, Karlee, Graeme, Jackson, Kacee, Madilyn, Evan, Owen and Elijah.

He was preceded in death by his parents. 

The family will receive friends on Thursday, February 15, 2024 from 11:00 AM until 1:00 PM at Christensen Family Funeral Home - Seymour Chapel. Funeral services will begin at 1:00 PM at the funeral home with burial to follow at Riverview Cemetery.
