Tony Nolan

August 24, 1943 — August 23, 2025

Seymour

Tony Carl Nolan, age 81, a cherished figure in the heart of Seymour, Indiana, passed away on August 23, 2025, just a day before his 82nd birthday. Born on August 24, 1943, in Clay County, Kentucky, Tony lived a life steeped in love, music, and community service that left an indelible mark on all who were fortunate enough to know him.

For over 52 years, Tony was the proud owner of Nolan's Repair Shop, a bustling establishment that became a second home to many. His hands, which could masterfully repair and restore machinery, bore witness to his generous spirit and unwavering kindness. He not only fixed engines but also mended the hearts of countless individuals with his warm smile and encouraging words. His affinity for small engine repair illustrated a talent that he wielded with pride and precision, always welcoming anyone who needed help.

A faithful member of Locust Grove Pentecostal Church, Tony exhibited a devotion that resonated through his music and community involvement. His passion for the guitar was palpable; it was a love affair that transcended mere hobby. Tony was more than just an incredible musician—he was a mentor, eager to share his knowledge and instrument with children, bestowing them their very own guitars in hopes of igniting a lifelong passion for music. His time teaching at Silver's Music Store imparted the joy of music to hundreds of students, all of whom will remember him as a guiding light in their lives.

Tony’s musical journey also led him to become part of the beloved local band, the "Jackson County 5," where his love for performance and camaraderie flourished. His zest for life was matched only by his enchanting ability to converse with anyone, making friends wherever he went. A huge fan of Chet Atkins, Tony’s joy was infectious, leading to impromptu jam sessions filled with laughter and reverberating melodies that harmonized with the good times shared.

He is survived by his wife Macusha Nolan, with whom he shared twenty-one wonderful years. Three children, Sandra, Lisa and Tyler. One brother, Troy Nolan and his wife Sharon on Seymour, Indiana. Two grandsons, one granddaughter and three great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his father, Elvin Cooper Nolan, and mother, Alice Gray Nolan, alongside siblings who predeceased him—Steve Nolan, Delbert Nolan, Lena Minton, Roberta "Bert" McKinney,  Nancy "Mildred" Sowder and Nellie Varner. He was also preceded in death by his daughter, Carol Jean "Jeannie" Nolan and grandson, Ricky Lawless who remain a part of his story woven through the fabric of his life.
