Vicki Sharp was born in New Albany, Indiana on January 19, 1957. She spent her early childhood in France and England but returned to New Albany in 1962. Her and parents Dr. George Buehler and Valerie Smith Buehler resided in Jeffersonville IN from the ages of 7-18.
Vicki graduated from Jeffersonville High School in 1974 and continued her education by becoming a Registered Nurse from IUS in 1978. She aspired to be a nurse throughout her youth because she had a calling to help people that were hurting. She received accolades from her employers and many letters from patients and their families expressing their gratitude for the meticulous and loving care she provided. Her intellectual interests did not limit her career to only nursing. She also worked as a senior bookkeeper in a manufacturing company, medical bill auditor, administrative assistant, in addition to being a devoted wife, homemaker, loving mother, caring friend and Nana.
She gave her life to her Savior Jesus Christ in April of 1975 and fell in love with her new identity as a Christian believer. She got involved in the local church in Ohio by teaching children’s Sunday school and eventually becoming the Children’s Sunday school director and the head of the RA’s and GA’s Christian organization for boys and girls at church. As we relocated to other areas of the country with Lou’s career, she found areas in the church where the Lord wanted her to serve.
Vicki is loved and admired most because she always had a smile and a kind word for everyone. Her giggly laugh gave everyone in hearing range a joyful feeling. She had many friends and loved ones throughout her life but the friends that stuck with her for decades and brought her so much joy, encouragement, love, support and guidance are Patty Dominguez, Valerie Hauser, Lois Hurt, Kay McLaren, Linda Rusk, Terrie Selph and Sue Wright.
Her interests and likes include putting her faith into practice, being Nana, music, including Christian, country and rock & roll oldies from 60s-80s. Vicki enjoyed laughing, making others laugh and playing innocent practical jokes. She also enjoyed her aerobics classes, loved line dancing, flower gardening and giving her husband her deepest love and care. Anyone who never had the chance to know her before her illness has missed out on some slices of joy in their lives. Vicki left behind countless memories that will continue to shine in our hearts. She is sorely missed however Heaven is rejoicing and dancing with her now. Knowing her, she is teaching King David how to do the Electric Slide.
The past seven years since moving to Scottsburg, God has placed many new godly people in her path that have become dear friends through her time at Elevation Church Ministries. Vicki and Lou are so thankful to God for bringing us here.
Vicki is survived by her Husband of 50 years Louis (Lou) Sharp, two sons Todd Michael and Matthew Louis. Todd and wife Patricia gave her (Nana) the Joy of two beautiful granddaughters Maddison and Morgan. Matthew and wife Jennifer also blessed her with three precious grandchildren Tyler, Caroline and Beckett. Her mother Valerie Buehler, brothers George (Laura) Buehler, Paul (Rose Mary) Buehler and Mark Buehler and sisters Laura Belden, Patrica Gray and Julie (Jeffery) Montgomery. She also has a number of terrific nieces and nephews. Vicki’s was predeceased by father Dr. George Buehler and sisters, Francie Flowers and Mary Elise Moore.
I know that Vicki loved all of you and is looking forward to hugging on you again in Beulah Land.
