Wilbur D. Jaynes, a lifelong resident of Seymour Indiana passed away on October 28, 2025, at the Covered Bridge Health Campus in Seymour Indiana, at the age of 90.

Born September 10, 1935, in Seymour Indiana to Claude R. Jaynes and Fannie F. (Wilkerson) Jaynes, both whom preceded him in death. He served in the US Army from 1958 - 1960. He worked at the Shoe Factory, Arvin Industries, and the City of Seymour for several years. He married Nona M. (Hallett) Caplinger on December 8, 1961, she preceded him in death on March 19, 2016.

Surviving to cherish his memory are his children, Dale (Maria) Caplinger of Texas, Debra Caplinger (Chris) Ward, of Westfield, IN, Janet Jaynes (Ernest) Davidson of Seymour, and Joyce Jaynes (Charles) Early of Mississippi; Sister, Sandra K. Jaynes of Seymour Indiana; Grandchildren, Kandle Hall, Chris Caplinger, Craig Caplinger, Cameron Caplinger, Will Freeman, Brent Freeman, and Seth Davidson. Several great grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.

Preceding Wilbur in death are his parents, wife, siblings: Roscoe Jaynes, Dorothy Lucas, Ruth Allman, Norma Strom, Harold Jaynes, Mildred Jaeger and Homer Jaynes and a great granddaughter Laikyn Field.

Wilbur was always willing to help anyone at any time, loved watching old movies, breakfast at Hardee’s and Betty’s Townhouse and use to never miss a softball game or tourney at Gaiser Park, especially coaching “the Boys” in all their younger years. Wilbur will be greatly missed by everyone who loved and knew him.

Cremation was chosen; and a Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.
