Wilma Alice (Richey) Hall, age 94, of Scottsburg, Indiana, and the daughter of Raymond Gray and Lettie Celeste (Richey) Richey, was born on November 11, 1930, in Scott County, Indiana. She was a 1948 graduate of Scottsburg High School. On November 12, 1948, she was united in marriage to Elmer B. Hall in Scott County, and they enjoyed fifty wonderful years together until his passing. She worked in several jobs, including Everitt’s Factory and for thirty-one years at the Scott County State Bank as a bookkeeper, teller, and in the loan department, retiring in 1995.
Wilma was a lifetime member of the Bethel Baptist Church of Leota, where she served the Lord in many roles. Throughout the years, she was involved in planning the Leota Frolic and was the president of the Rainbow Strollers Square Dance Club. In her spare time, she enjoyed bird watching, cooking, gardening, and volunteering at the Scottsburg Clearinghouse. Her passion for cooking even led her to publish multiple cookbooks. More than anything, she enjoyed spending time with her family and entertaining friends. Mrs. Hall passed away on Thursday, September 4, 2025 at the Autumn Woods Health Campus in New Albany, Indiana.
Her life will be cherished by her nieces: Darita Wade and her husband, Gary of Borden, Indiana, Karen Etchison and her husband, Mark of Greenwood, Indiana, and Gina Graf and her husband, David of Ohio; her sister-in-law: June Richey of Austin, Indiana; her special friend, Donna Springstun and her husband, Tom of Scottsburg; and numerous great nieces and nephews. In addition to parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband, Elmer B. Hall; her second husband, James M. Hall; her brother: Wilbur A. “Wib” Richey; her sisters: Leona Jackson and her husband, Ralph, and Dorothy J. Bridges and her husband, Earl; her niece: Eleanor Lynch; and one great nephew: Justin Wade.
A visitation celebrating Wilma’s life will be held on Sunday, September 7, 2025, from 3:00 PM until 7:00 PM at the Christensen Hoagland Funeral Home, 80 North First Street, Scottsburg. Visitation will resume on Monday, September 8, 2025, from 10:00 AM until 11:00 AM at the Christensen Hoagland Funeral Home. Funeral services will be conducted by Pastor Bruce Bridgewater at 11:00 AM on Monday at the funeral home with interment to follow in the Bethel Baptist Church Cemetery in Leota, Indiana.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions be made to the Bethel Baptist Church of Leota and Southern Care Hospice.
